Halloween!!

O.K Kelly, this is for you. Actually I intended to post about Halloween eventually, you just convinced me to do it sooner rather than later.

So, this year John was Long John Silver. He was supposed to dress like a book character for school and we have been reading Treasure Island together. So he really wanted to be a pirate from the book. I didn't want him to have the typical black costume because pirates didn't really wear that stuff, so I made him one.
Justin decided to be Buzz Lightyear and hardly took off his costume for three days!
Jackie didn't know what was going on, but she was Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz.

The kids had a very eventful Halloween this year. On Monday they were invited to a Halloween party at a friend house, see pictures below.

Then on Thursday we went to the Stake Center. This year the wards were not doing the Trunk or Treat. They decided to have and Oktoberfest instead. So they asked for volunteers to decorate each of the classrooms and pass out candy, so the kids trick or treated inside the church. It worked out really well since the classrooms go around in a circle along the outer walls of the building. And then everyone trooped into the cultural hall for games. The kids did fishing for prizes, beanbag toss, cupcake walk, face painting, piƱata, pumpkin bowling and ate lots of treats. I also took all the kids through "Spook Alley" Even Jackie liked it since she didn't know to be scared. They had to crawl through a tunnel, walk the plank (when you cant see where you're jumping to!) go past the witch and her boiling cauldron and make it throught the room with the mad scientist. And all along things come to life to scare you. Even John did o.k. They passed out coupon books out to all the kids that were redeemable for turns at all the different games to keep kids from monopolizing certain ones, which I thought was a great idea.
On Friday which was Halloween John had his Fall Festival at school, so he got to dress up again and visit the game booths and get more candy.
So we figured that they had had enough by then, so we did not take them trick or treating that night. We all stayed in and watched "Sleepy Hollow" and "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and had hot chocolate. No trick or treaters came to our door so it was a quiet night, but it was an eventfull week.
